Performance Bio
Carter Dewberry completed her DMA in Chamber Music Performance from UCLA in December, 2005. She received her MM in Cello Performance from UCLA in June,
2002 and her B.M. in Cello Performance from Western Michigan University in April, 1998. She also holds a B.A. in French with a minor in Women's Studies and Philosophy.
Carter has a wide variety of performance experience as a soloist, orchestral, and studio musician. However, her passion is discovering all possible performance possibilities
for the cello, primarily through chamber music. Since she was 8 years old she has looked for every opportunity to collaborate with others, studying at Encore and Meadowmount many summers throughout her high school and undergraduate years. She has competed in and won numerous chamber music competitions throughout the United States.
In her collaborative explorations, she has played with electronic, jazz, rock, pop, and blues musicians and has worked with filmmakers, other
visual artists, choreographers, and poets to create unique performance experiences. In addition to maintaining her active recording schedule, she currently performs with The Definiens Project and the Peter Sprague Consort.
